Nordic Brass Gusum continues to introduce online condition monitoring
In the summer of 2013, Swedish brass specialist Nordic Brass Gusum conducted the first phase of an investment in equipment for condition monitoring of hydraulic control for the brass extrusion plant. This summer, the second phase of the installations will be carried out.
The Intellinova Compact online system with eighteen channels will be used to monitor the plant's mechanical condition, including bearing condition and lubrication condition of pumps and drive motors. The measuring points on the main pumps will be connected to digital outputs that break and shut down the pumps in case of alarm status.
Department manager Mats Sporre comments: "It was time to replace our old monitoring system from SPM and we chose to invest in Intellinova Compact, which we think provides good opportunities for more efficient monitoring, increased reliability and better follow-ups. Training is also included in the package, which is a prerequisite for us to be able to take full advantage of system functionality. Our operators will be able to continuously follow measuring results and trends via a screen in the control room."
Nordic Brass Gusum has special expertise and long experience in brass production. The plant in Gusum has a production of about 40,000 tons of brass per year in the form of rods, profiles, bars, and nuts; most of which are delivered to the Nordic market.
